REICH Couplings
The manufacturer REICH describes REICH Couplings as a symbol of “smooth and efficient economy”. Based in Bochum, Germany, the company REICH offers an extensive portfolio. This portfolio divides couplings according to their elastic behavior – highly torsionally flexible, torsionally flexible and torsionally rigid.
We at PMP also value sophisticated coupling system solutions and modern production technologies. In this article, we therefore provide you with an overview of the REICH couplings that we sell.

REICH Couplings: The highly flexible ones
Our portfolio includes three highly flexible couplings: the ARCUSAFLEX®, Arcusaflex-VSK and TOK couplings.
The ARCUSAFLEX® rubber disk coupling is an axially pluggable and torsionally flexible flange coupling. A cam toothing enables the plug-in connection to the coupling flange. The plug-in connection is virtually backlash-free and form-fit. Backlash-free couplings transmit torque without misalignment even when the direction of rotation changes – they therefore enable backlash-free torque transmission in reversing operation. As the ARCUSAFLEX® is both pluggable and backlash-free, it is an elastomer coupling. It is therefore also able to effectively dampen vibrations and shocks through the disk-shaped transmission element.
The Arcusaflex-VSK is a highly torsionally flexible and compact pre-coupling that is used in cardan shaft construction. Cardan shafts are always used when, for example, a large shaft offset needs to be bridged. The Arcusaflex-VSK is mounted upstream of the drive shaft. This protects the drive train of a combustion engine from dynamic overloading. The Arcusaflex VSK is used for various transmissions (distributor, torque converter, marine, manual and pump transmissions). These can be found in cranes, ships, locomotives and pump units.
The highly torsionally flexible TOK Coupling is used in applications that require low torsional rigidity (torsional stiffness). Couplings can also compensate for axial and radial misalignments. We can adapt the latter to suit the situation with a given range of elastic elements.
REICH COUPLINGS: THE TORSIONALLY RIGID ONES
The Flexdur multi-plate coupling and the RCT coupling flange coupling belong to the family of torsionally rigid couplings. Both couplings are particularly torsionally rigid. They transmit both angular momentum and torque through the coupling without phase offset. The torsionally rigid design enables safe operation, as dangerous torsional vibration amplitudes are avoided. Like the highly flexible ARCUSAFLEX® coupling, the RCT coupling is axially pluggable. It is an optimum drive solution for connecting diesel engines to hydraulic pumps.
