In addition, short downtimes need to be combined with the lowest possible total cost of ownership at all times. This is a major challenge, especially for torsional vibration-excited drivetrains.

Torsionally flexible couplings are used for this purpose, which dampen torque surges. Torsionally flexible Couplings compensate for shaft misalignment by deforming a spring body, which usually consists of an elastomer part (rubber element). The elastomer part is available in different Shore hardnesses and shapes and is selected according to the specific application.

Highly flexible Couplings have a particularly large-volume spring body. Compared to flexible couplings, they have a very low stiffness. The torque is sent through the couplings with a very large phase offset so that a large shaft offset can be compensated for as best as possible.

Rigid Coupling from CENTA / Rexnord

Torsionally rigid couplings transmit the torque through the coupling without phase offset and only minimally compensate for shaft misalignments. Rigid couplings therefore have little flexibility, meaning that the optimum coupling for your application must be aligned at all times. Have the condition of your Coupling checked by means of regular alignment checks and actively counteract unwanted wear and stress.

When optimally aligned, rigid couplings enable maximum torques and speeds. In simple drives, torsionally rigid couplings also score points with low maintenance and high cost efficiency.

The CENTAFLEX-K belongs to the family of torsionally rigid Couplings. It is characterized by a robust combination of materials and is extremely durable. The CENTAFLEX-K is a relatively short design that can be optimally adapted even in confined spaces. The CENTAFLEX-K is particularly popular in construction machinery with hydrostatic drives. In mobile machines such as excavators, cranes or rollers, the hydrostatic drive combines high performance with a small size.
