WHY FLENDER COUPLINGS?
Shaft couplings or flange couplings ensure power transmission from the engine to the transmission. The be-all and end-all of successful power transmission is the high-quality workmanship and accuracy of fit of the Coupling. APPLICATION AREAS OF FLENDER COUPLINGS
Wind energy and power generation
The operating principle of wind turbines is always the same. The wind sets the rotor blades of the wind turbine in motion. This drives an electricity generator, which converts the wind power into electrical energy. The principle can be transferred to other types of energy generation (e.g. hydropower) and torsionally rigid couplings are used to ensure that everything works as it should. As a multifunctional system component, the Coupling transmits the torque and protects the drive system at the same time. Couplings for compressor drives and generator drives for power generation are a special type of coupling, the ARPEX ART turbo coupling, which is used in high-speed drive systems (max. 200 m/s). The ingenious functional principle of the ARPEX ART also performs excellently under high loads.
Industrial sector
The range of couplings in the industrial sector is versatile and includes highly flexible flange couplings, torsionally rigid tooth couplings and flexible claw couplings. All couplings are capable of withstanding tough operating conditions. When it comes to efficiency and power density, they are second to none, and flexible claw couplings and pin couplings can also compensate for non-uniform rotary movements. Torsionally flexible couplings reduce vibrations and shocks. At the same time, they reduce maintenance costs. However, please note that misalignments can also occur with flexible couplings. Torsionally flexible cam couplings use elastomers in various hardnesses, thereby reducing wear in the long term. The damping property shifts critical torsional vibrations and protects the system train from negative effects.
The highly flexible Coupling is able to compensate for very large shaft misalignments. Highly flexible couplings are ideally suited for pumps, compressors and air condensers.Backlash-free couplings are also in demand in conveyor technology, filling systems and positioning applications. As a modular interface, backlash-free couplings ensure reliable, backlash-free and misalignment-free power transmission.special rail couplings (articulated couplings, gear couplings, link couplings and diaphragm couplings) get streetcars, metros, locomotives and high-speed trains rolling.

Both international trade and the continuously growing tourism market with its cruise ships are examples of why highly efficient drives are needed in the shipping industry. Single-engine ships, multi-engine ships, dredgers, generator gear units and installation ships all benefit from torsionally rigid couplings. ZAPEX gear couplings from FLENDER withstand the harsh operating conditions on the high seas. This coupling also impresses with its high performance capacity (max. 7.2 million Nm) and compact design. The N-ARPEX all-steel couplings can adapt to the high ambient temperatures (-50°C to +280°C) in the engine rooms.
